Dr. Carolyn Dean presents a detailed and easy to understand book about the many health benefits of this essential yet under-used mineral.

The Magnesium Miracle is designed as an update to Dr. Dean's first book, The Miracle of Magnesium. In her update, Dr. Dean includes the latest nutritional research information to support why magnesium may be one of the most important yet under-promoted nutrients for better health and well-being.

Magnesium Mineral Merits Entire Book

The Magnesium Miracle is surprisingly so easy to digest, readers forget an entire book is devoted to one supplement. Dr. Dean's summary of one of the most vital, inexpensive and under-used solutions to improve a variety of conditions, leads the reader to wonder why more doctors don't test for this all too common deficiency. Instead, Dr. Dean points out, patients often spend years, tears and thousands of dollars trying to cure ailments that can often be relieved, even cured, with the proper type and dose of magnesium.

She doesn't claim to have a magic bullet, rather Dr. Dean suggests that patients and doctors pay closer attention to a nutrient that has largely been ignored in the health care dialogue. Magnesium has been scientifically proven to be critical for well-being yet most people are deficient due to diet, lifestyle or a medical condition.

In clear language, The Miracle of Magnesium guides readers to understand the essential roles magnesium plays in the body such as:

  • Co-factor to 325 magnesium-dependent enzymes
  • Produces and transports energy
  • Synthesizes proteins
  • Transmission of nerve signals
  • Relaxes muscles

Dr. Dean presents several common case studies of people who suffered needlessly for years with mistreated conditions only to improve or recover after supplementing with magnesium.

Book Reveals List of Conditions Helped by Magnesium Supplementation

Her well-documented argument for boosting magnesium is convincing. "The amount of research on the topic of magnesium is staggering.” says Dr. Dean. “To bring you the most current research and medical facts, I've sifted through thousands of pages of scientific studies, each of which begins with the acknowledgment that magnesium is of therapeutic value in treating a myriad of symptoms." The list of ailments from anxiety to tooth decay that can be improved or cured with magnesium is impressive.

Magnesium and Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Environmental Illness, Asthma, Health and Longevity

Dr. Dean presents a summary of findings that suggests magnesium deficiency is common in chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. In addition, people with chemical sensitivities that lead to environmental illness may benefit because magnesium helps detoxify toxic chemicals and eliminate heavy metals from the body.

She also suggests that some patients with asthma and other bronchial diseases have low magnesium levels as well as people with Alzheimers or Parkinson's since aging leads to a deficiency.

Why Magnesium Disappeared and Calcium Took Over

In addition to the numerous health benefits of magnesium, The Magnesium Miracle explores key factors why such a crucial nutrient disappeared from the medical radar and hasn't made it back into the mainstream:

  • After World War II the once magnesium-rich farm soil became deficient after the industrialists turned to agriculture and applied poisons, pesticides, and herbicides to destroy unwanted crop pests.
  • Over the years doctors started to tell Americans, particularly menopausal women, to increase their calcium to protect their bones. Yet the ancient diet that evolved for our bodies was a 1:1 calcium to magnesium ratio, rather than the current 5:1 to 15:1 ratio.

Magnesium Getting More Attention

Despite the fact that a 1988 U.S. government study concluded that the standard American diet fails to provide the daily requirements of magnesium, two decades later, most people are getting even less than they need because 27% of their diet is made up of junk food.

In her second book, Dr. Dean is however, optimistic pointing out that awareness about magnesium's health benefits is increasing. In 2005 members of Congress received 1,000 copies of hers and Dr. Mildred Seelig's book, The Magnesium Factor, to review. Moreover, the 2006 the World Health Organization held a symposium in Baltimore called, "Calcium and Magnesium in Drinking Water" and acknowledged the importance of magnesium in health.

Dr. Dean presents overwhelming and what appears to be irrefutable evidence to support why Americans should increase their magnesium intake through diet or supplementation. The Magnesium Miracle also provides readers with a simple diet plan, guidelines for dosing, a summary of the various effective forms of magnesium and the tests available to accurately measure levels in the body.

Getting a mag deficiency test cost should be an easy fix. Healthcheck USA cites $40.00 for that lab. You can also post Dr. Dean's Mag advocacy cite, http://www.nutritionalmagnesium.org/ to inquire about price ranges.
Hope this helps!
